In 2004, I was diagnosed with primary progressive multiple sclerosis. Prior to my diagnosis I was a very active person – always walking around or doing something. Within four years of being diagnosed I was in a wheelchair and my entire quality of life had been altered.

Eventually, after many different pharmaceuticals and medications that never seemed to help, I decided to quit altogether and turn to CBD as a possible solution.

Here is my story:

What is Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis is defined as an autoimmune disease of a person’s central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). It attacks the protective covering of the nerves causing inflammation and often major damage. This covering is called myelin and is necessary for the transmission of nerve impulses through the body’s nerve fibres.

Simply put, multiple sclerosis causes severe communication problems between the brain and body. Some of the symptoms of this disease include lack of coordination, weakness, impaired sensation, fatigue, vision problems, bladder problems and cognitive impairment.

Canada has one of the highest rates of multiple sclerosis in the world – with 1 in 385 Canadians being affected. Currently there is no cure for multiple sclerosis.

My Journey with Multiple Sclerosis & CBD

When I was first diagnosed, I went through many different medications. Usually, I tried a prescription as a last resort, but they never seemed to touch the actual pain and discomfort I was experiencing, so I would quit them quite quickly.

Eventually I became so frustrated that I stopped all pharmaceutical medications altogether. While some medications helped to mask the problem, nothing ever actually fixed it.

I had always wanted to try CBD oil for my symptoms. I had done a lot of research after I was diagnosed but didn’t know where to source a reliable product that had no THC. I assumed since the THC was not present it would be easier to find, but I soon learned that it was still not a common product.

Last November I heard about Stop & Smell the Roses and contacted them immediately. I had the opportunity to talk to upper management about my story, my condition and what product might work best for me.

I’m taking very few supplements right now on a regular basis, but I have been taking my CBD oil every day since my first purchase.

How CBD Has Affected Me

I have noticed numerous improvements throughout my body since taking the CBD oil. Mainly, it has helped with my inflammation, which is a huge factor for my relief. My feet, which used to be extremely swollen, have now shrunken back down to their regular size – this actually happened within one month of taking the oil. In general, I can move more easily without experiencing pain.

Another huge improvement I have noticed since taking CBD is my bladder control. I was at the mercy of bladder spasms constantly, and now I have some control over my bladder.

I will continue to take CBD oil for as long as it is available to me. The positive effects are constantly growing.
